Arkansas Green Industry, Keep Arkansas Beautiful and Arkansas FFA partnership

Three Arkansas Associations have agreed to join forces and form a partnership that plans to work on coordinating and executing beautification projects spearheaded by the Arkansas FFA’s (formerly Future Farmers of America, now The National FFA Organization) and supported by KAB (Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission) and AGIA (Arkansas Green Industry Association.
Leaders from all three associations met in March to discuss plans and projects for 2011-2012, as well as to draft their mission statement. “The partnership between the Arkansas Green Industry, the Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission, and the Arkansas FFA is to educate and inspire lifelong leadership through horticultural service learning.”
“The AGIA is proud to be a part of this partnership and will work hard to help support the kids and teachers with all their beautification projects. This partnership is a great way to introduce a new generation to our industry and show them the benefits of the products our industry produces. The projects that the kids choose to undertake will help them to learn leadership and how to give back to their communities,” said Jason Parks, AGIA Board Member.
Make plans to join us on May 21, 2011 at the FFA Camp Couchdale Clean-Up in Hot Springs, near Lake Catherine State Park. The camp is beautiful, grassy terrain in just enough forest, right on the lake and has numerous cabins, administrative buildings, and a livestock pavilion. The Clean-Up event will be held from 9am-1pm and participants include FFA students, FFA alumni members, and AGIA and KAB support. Please contact Dawn at (501) 224-4840 for more information and to find out how you can help. --posted May 19, 2011
